By using SimplRead at simplread.com, the browser extension, or our mobile apps, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
SimplRead simplifies articles, pasted text, and certain linked media (such as captioned YouTube videos) into reading slides. You may use SimplRead’s hosted AI tokens (free monthly allowance and/or purchased credits) or bring your own API key (BYOK). We are not responsible for third-party AI providers, payment processors, app stores, or the accuracy of source website content.
SimplRead is a reading aid. It does not provide medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Simplified slides may omit detail; always check the original source when precision matters.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account.
Your account
Keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Provide accurate email information and keep it up to date so we can send security and billing notices when needed. You may delete your account in Settings; deletion removes associated history subject to legal retention needs (for example payment records).
Credits, free allowance, and BYOK
- Free hosted simplifications are limited per calendar month as described on the site.
- Purchased credits are one-time top-ups, not subscriptions, and expire twelve months after purchase unless stated otherwise at checkout.
- One credit equals one new simplification; re-reads of saved history do not spend credits.
- BYOK is billed by your AI provider under their terms; SimplRead does not pay those API fees.
- Ads may appear in the reader depending on your access path; purchased credit balances unlock ad-free reading while they last.
Pricing and pack details on the website may change; the price shown at checkout is the price you pay for that purchase.
Acceptable use
Do not abuse the service, attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineer in violation of law, overload our systems, or use SimplRead for unlawful purposes. Do not submit content you do not have the right to process. Do not use the service to generate or distribute malware, harassment, or illegal material. We may rate-limit or suspend accounts that harm the service or other users.
Intellectual property
SimplRead’s branding, software, and site content belong to us or our licensors. You retain rights to content you submit; you grant us a limited licence to process it solely to provide the service (including sending it to AI providers you or we use for your request).
Availability
We provide SimplRead as-is. Features may change. We aim for reasonable uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Third-party outages (AI providers, networks, app stores) may affect simplification.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on simplified text. Our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us for SimplRead credits in the twelve months before the claim (API fees you pay directly to third parties are excluded).
Termination
You may stop using SimplRead and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that create legal or security risk. Provisions that should survive termination (including liability limits) will survive.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
